Gut Strings
String King offers gut strings for historical instruments from 4 manufacturers:
Aquila, Baroco, Gamut and La Folia. You can choose between these labels and pick
single strings, whole sets (only available with Aquila and Gamut) or mix strings
according to your personal preferences. Our own experience shows that combining
strings from different manufactures works very well on the instrument. We also
advocate a baroque stringing principle of equal tension for all the strings on
the instrument.
We provide information from manufacturers (Aquila and Gamut) with their
sugestions and stringing examples (those common today and historically correct).
Our own experience shows that even even sets marked as “heavy” are relatively

historical set of strings appropriate for different styles and periods or in
finding a compromise between your habits and the historical stringing evidence.
It may often take some time to find the best strings for just you and your
